About Cal Ripken Baseball |
Much like the better-known Little League, Cal Ripken
Baseball is a growing national organization with over 600,000
participants playing baseball around the world. Cal Ripken Baseball is
the fastest growing league in the US and is personally supported by Cal
and his brother Billy, both retired major league players. Rules are very
similar to Little League but for players interested in playing baseball
after our House League Season ends, there is a summer tournament
schedule that allows teams to pick and chose where and when they want
to play in June and July, before entering the State and Regional
tournaments. Little League’s post season play is strictly tied to the
national title tournament trail and there are no guarantees of any games
if you do not win your first tournament. Cal Ripken Baseball also allows
for post season play for 11 year old teams as well as “B” teams. |

World Series |
Playing Cal Ripken Baseball allows the WLBA to be part of a large
national organization that offers support services such as insurance
coverage and a post regular season for those players wanting to continue
playing in to the summer. Our House League season starts in early April
and ends in June, just prior to school finishing. Players wanting to
continue on in to the summer, have an opportunity to do so and play in
local and regional tournaments against other Cal Ripken teams of the
same age group from around the Pacific Northwest. For the 10 and 12 year
old divisions, a national tournament trail exists for teams that can
compete at the highest level within the Cal Ripken program. The WLBA has
been fortunate enough to have teams compete in the Cal Ripken World Series in Mattoon, IL in 2002 and Aberdeen, MD in 2003
and lately Vincennes, IN (10 & under) and Van Buren, AR (12 and under)
in 2007.
Post season baseball typically starts when school finishes and runs
through the end of July. Tryouts are involved, but we field as many post
season teams as we have players and coaches available. The focus of Cal Ripken Baseball is on teaching
fundamentals (not getting the younger players distracted by pitching
balks, lead-offs on undersize diamonds resulting in unlimited base
stealing) and having fun. The Regular season runs from April to early
June and all the games are played here in West Linn. No travel required.
Post season is optional and starts once the Regular season is completed
and runs through July. |

Junior Baseball of Oregon- Senior League- Federal/ American/
National/ Cub |

Junior Baseball of Oregon,
Inc., is independent of any of the traditional nationwide baseball
organizations, and governs eight separate "Districts" within Oregon. The
J.B.O. organization generally plays by the National Federation of State
High School Associations (NFHS) rules. There are several modifications
at the various age group levels that impact rules governing length of
base paths and the pitching distances. JBO is set up for players 9-14
years of age, with three distinct age groups, Midget, Junior and Senior.
Within each age group, there are also three distinct skill levels,
National (recreational), American (more competitive), and Federal (very
competitive). Most member leagues also have their own independent
"T-Ball" programs for the younger kids. |

Junior Baseball of Oregon,
Inc., is an Oregon non-profit corporation that exists to provide young
boys and girls an opportunity to participate in an organized baseball
experience. It is the goal of Junior Baseball to provide each child,
regardless of skill level, an opportunity to compete in baseball against
other players of equal skill and age. |
